Gayathri, a trained Indian classical musician, was brought up in Mumbai, India, while she worked in the software industry. Sketching and painting were her hobbies as she loved to draw people and landscapes. She has been self-taught for the most part and is inspired by the masters like Sargent, Richard Schmidt, Daniel Gerhartz. Initially she was tutored by Chris Di Domizio in classical realism, on graphite, charcoal and oil painting. The mediums that she loves working in are charcoal, oil and watercolor. She has also been an art teacher for many years, for both kids and adults, besides working on commissions. Her favorite subjects are portraits, still life, florals, and landscapes. Her work can be found at galleries in Woodstock. She has won many awards in juried competitions and is also a member of the Oil Painters of America.

About Gayathri...

I love to create realistic and also impressionistic paintings with inspiration from the painters of the 20th century. I paint that connects with my soul and brings out the emotions untold to the world. My paintings are represented in still life, portraits, florals and landscapes in varied mediums such as oil, charcoal, graphite, and watercolor. I have been doing portrait commissions from photos and painting live portraits too. In a world of constant technological advancement, I want my paintings to connect to the viewer, kindle their emotions and make them feel alive.
